Bonelli's Eagle Hide Zamora
Arribes del Duero, Zamora, Spain
This hide, with continuous bird activity, is located at less than an hour from Madrid airport and train station.
The only endemic bird of prey on the Iberian Peninsula, the Spanish Imperial Eagle, is undoubtedly one of the birds every wildlife photographer dreams of taking photos on. Being in its imposing presence is an unforgettable experience. Furthermore, Photo Logistics offers you the chance to do this from a hide located less than an hour from Madrid.
In this hide, various birds of prey are fed under a supplementary feeding system, which means that their ecological role as hunters of bird and mammal species is preserved without creating dependency on the feeding site. In addition, a small pond has been installed, which attracts birds and mammals of various species. Besides Spanish Imperial Eagles, you can photograph Egyptian Mongoose, Red Kite, Common Buzzard, Azure-winged Magpie, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Red Fox, and different species of woodland passerines. Interaction scenes between different birds of prey and between birds of prey and foxes are quite common.
Working with Spanish Imperial Eagles involves certain limitations and precautions to bear in mind, so specific instructions will be gaven in the booking confirmation email. Of course, maintaining complete silence is also essential. The supplementary feeding system limits the number of monthly sessions, so we recommend booking several weeks in advance.
The session takes from sunrise until sunset, so the hide is spacious and equipped with a toilet. It has room for three people. As you know, Photo Logistics always offers hides exclusively to the individual or group that has booked for that day; we do not mix different groups. The hide uses a high-quality one-way glass, allowing you to take photos of birds flying around the feeding spot before they land.
The hide is located in the municipality of Navalagamella, and the meeting point will be provided upon reservation. Our guide will drive you from the agreed meeting place to the hide. You must remain in the hide until our guide returns to pick you up.
