Black Wheatear Hide
Montllober, Massalcoreig, Spain
A water point in one of the most dry places in Catalonia, a safe bet.
In our own farm in the Serra de Montllober (Massalcoreig, Segrià) we have made a perfect pond for birds to drink and bathe. But we have gone a little bit further and we have turned this hide into a supplementary feeding point for birds of prey. The idea is to have a hide for an afternoon session where you can photograph many species of passerines that we will attract to the water and also the raptors will give us options while they eat (road killed rabbit or chicken pieces), when they come to drink after having eaten and when they perch on the branches that we have conveniently placed.
What can you expect? On the pond at the moment the usual birds are Stonechat (winter season), Thekla Lark, Black Redstart, Chaffinch, Songthrush (winter season), White Wagtail, Robin, Greenfinch, Serin, Linnet, etc. This list is still incomplete. We will have to complete it as the months go by. And as for birds of prey, the usual one at the feeding point and pond is Goshawk, but there are also Common Buzzard, Marsh Harrier and Red Kite.
The hide has capacity up to two people in the afternoon session.
Once the booking is made, our guide will take you from the meeting point to the hide. The exit from the hide is under the strict supervision of a guide, you cannot leave the hide until the guide knocks on the door to make sure the birds are not disturbed.
Type of service: double hide, with oneway glass
Season: Whole year.
